Larry produced, played, and mixed the song and it became a smash. Errico put together a stellar band featuring The Tower of Power horn section, Graham on bass, and the Pointer Sisters on back-up vocalists. ![]() Betty Davis was the former wife of trumpeter Miles Davis who had written some excellent songs. It was also at this time before he formed GCS that he hooked up with former band member Greg Errico and asked him to play on an unknown female vocalist that was an unknown at the time. The group would record such funk anthems like "Hair" and "The Jam." When Larry left the group he formed a more rawer and funkier group called Graham Central Station. ![]() Larry's signature bass lines were the pattern of stylings of funk that later influenced James Brown, Bootsie Collins and Funkadelic, and groups like KC and the Sunshine Band to Slave. "Stand" and "There's A Riot Going On" changed how soul music evolved into funk music. ![]() During the late 1960's into the early 1970's bassist Larry Graham played on Sly and the Family Stone's most monumental singles and albums.
